Student Examples – Poetry

Examples of poetry from students that took part in our exhibition activities & workshops:

We all love seeing West Ham play
Everybody cheers in the crowd
Seeing West Ham play makes me proud
Team work and happiness does the trick
Hip hip hooray, West Ham are playing today!
At night we’ll see them play
Most of my family support the team!

By Sonali Pasco

Golden and shiny
Bright as a light
Worth 100 games
We pray for it tonight
Nice and glowing like a knights armour
Smooth not spiky
Cheer it on today
Say hip hip hooray

By Isabella Adshead-Jones

There is a man in West Ham
He played football with his friends
The man had some skills in his brain
He was happy and helpful
Bobby Moore was his name

There was a man
Who played for West Ham

Bobby Moore
He won the cup for England
No one could believe it

By Amelia Kubas

West Ham from the West

Being the best
They win all the time
Players score and shine

A Legend
Like Booby Moore
A West Ham Hero
Not a Millwall Zero
Another star was born
Another Millwall to be torn

Don’t worry about the future
We live for now and not in the past
Just take a look at West Ham now
and say..
WOW!

By Ruby McCallum & Elfrida Tackie

When the crowd is loud
I’m walking through the dark tunnel
I see the light from the football pitch
They’re all calling my name loud
The game is about to start
It was crazy
West Ham won the game

By Teddy Celder

Healthy lifestyle makes you smile

Arnold Hill has lots of skill
Footballers don’t take special pills
Bobby Moore is good for sure
Kick it in a goal
not at a big tall pole
The best sport of all is football

By Isabella Adshead-Jones

Shoot!!!!!!
Take a shot with a boot
Hit the ball
Tall stand the crowd
Crowd cheered loud
Yes!! They scored!
Happy West Ham fans –
now happy as a lambs!
Football is my favourite game –
I love to watch them play!

I didn’t slide !
I didn’t get on the slide
As it has been a while
Been a while I got on a high ride.

I went to look around
It was interesting
I got to see the views from the top
I meet my mentee, and plan to do some sightseeing
Places like Buckingham Palace, London Eye and Tower Bridge.

Orbital
Someone call me and tell me to come,
I wasn’t home so I went to West Ham
Christabel told me I got a surprise and
we needed some help to open the gift
They gave me ticket and tell me to go,
to go upstairs to slide down the Orbit
I felt some fear, but I don’t care
When this finishes I want to replay
BIG SHAQ!!!!!!!!

What I did today
I woke up at 7 and went to college
I came here at 3.30
I went to the Orbit
I couldn’t go on the slide
I’m scared of heights
I watched my mates go on the slide
I enjoy this
I had a good time

The visit
We visit West Ham stadium
We join the music club with friends
We ate in Stratford Centre
We walked one hour to look around
We went on the slide
We came and ate and met some friends
We talked with our mentors.

Orbit fun
Today I went to college
I didn’t have any lessons
So I decided to have lunch
I went to the library
I came to the stadium meeting
I tried out the Orbit
which was fun
Until it was all done

College was fun
College was fun
The Orbit was cool
I met my mentor
We laughed whilst sitting on a stool
… and I feel good
… and she wants food.
